  “Matured for 15 months in French hogsheads (80% new). Excellent crimson-purple hue introduces a disciplined Cabernet that makes its varietal point clearly and firmly with blackcurrant, bay leaf and black olive nuances. No fireworks, just Cabernet grown in a perfect spot.”

  “A single 9-tonne batch open-fermented for 8 days with twice daily pump overs, matured in 20% new American oak and 80% used French hogsheads for 15 months, then a barrel selection. If is full-bodied like winemaker Peter Douglas, a gentle giant, and is made in his image.”

  “16yo vines, matured in 50/50% new and used French hogsheads for 12 months. The softness of the Langhorne Creek fruit hasn’t been compromised, and the wine has elegance and intensity as well, not a common outcome. It really is a lovely wine.”

  “Matured for 24 months in ‘specially selected fine French oak barrels’ says the voluminous back label, the winery info 66% used French hogsheads and 33% used American hogsheads. The colour is deep, savoury varietal blackcurrant fruit flowing across the medium-bodied, but long, palate, oak and tannins standing as mute observers on the kerb.”
